About Skinredients
Skinredients is a free tool for one job: you paste the ingredient list from a skincare or makeup product and it shows which ingredients have a published comedogenic (pore-clogging) rating, how high that rating is, where the ingredient sits in the list, and which study the rating comes from.
It is for people with acne-prone or easily congested skin who want to read a label before they buy, and for anyone who has been told an ingredient "clogs pores" and wants to see the evidence for themselves.
What we do not do
- We do not diagnose skin conditions or tell you a product will or will not cause breakouts. The ratings are a screening guide.
- We do not mark an ingredient "safe" because it has no rating. Most cosmetic ingredients have never been tested for comedogenicity at all, and the checker says so.
- We do not see what you paste. The checker runs inside your browser.
- We are not paid to include or leave out any ingredient or brand.
Who writes it
Skinredients is a small independent site. Articles and ingredient pages are published under the Skinredients name rather than a personal byline, and every factual claim links to its source. The methodology page explains exactly how the ratings and articles are put together.
